Alyona Mak

Alyona Mak is an artist / designer, living and working in New York; born in St. Petersburg, Russia. Alyona graduated from Pratt Institute with a Master’s degree in Industrial Design. She studied art in Russia, US, Italy, and Denmark and has worked as a designer and illustrator for almost 20 years in a variety of design fields. 

Recently Alyona Mak was commissioned to create over twenty hand-painted watercolor and ink illustrations for Barnes & Noble, which are now a part of the store environments in Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans and other locations around US. Over the years she created original illustrations for Ritz Carlton, Stagebill, Black Book Magazine, Ipolita, to name a few.

In 1997 Alyona received a special award for Design Excellence from Society of Publication Designers. In 2007 she became a Merit Award Winner of Taiwan International Design Competition / Exhibit “Humor & Design”. Her sleeping bag for two became a part of the permanent collection of Taiwan Modern Design Museum. Her works were published in ID Magazine, Black Book Magazine, Stagebill, Tango Magazine, and 32nd Publication Design Annual and in a number of web Design Portals.
